The news wasn't good this week when I heard that Ben Chapman died aged 79. Ben and I had corresponded for a few years since we did an interview back in 2004. I hope to put the interview online in the coming months, and my thoughts are with his wife Merrilee and son Ben Chapman Jr. Ben Sr fought in Korea winning various medals for bravery including the Silver Star. And The Creature from the Black Lagoon still enjoyes legendary status, more than 50 years after its release. I am sure fans, who met Ben at various shows across North America, which he usually attended with his gorgeous costar, Julie Adams will miss this larger than life character.
This was sad news on top of the loss of Jeanne Carmen just before Christmas. Jeanne was an amazing character who will be much misssed by her three children as well as her thousands of fans across the globe. It is a shame that she will not get the chance to find out who might play her in a movie based on the biogaphical book written by her son, Brandon. Hopefully the movie will still be made in the next year or two, perhaps with someone like Scarlett Johansson or Christina Aguilera in the lead role. Whoever gets the role will have their hands full living up to Jeanne's amazing early life in NY and Hollywood. As a sad addendum, Jeanne's husband and father of her three children died last week. Although separated, he never stopped loving Jeanne and was devastated by her death. Brandon has become a good friend over the years, and has been a double blow to both Brandon and his two sisters.
Ironically, on the day I had been organising to interview the lovely Vampira, Maila Nurmi through her webmaster, Clint, this wonderful painter and 50s actress passed away in her sleep from a heart attack aged 86. Clint tells me that Miss Maila had been in very good health and her death came as a great surprise despite her advanced age. To lose a young Aussie actor like Heath Ledger shortly after, only added to life's little ironies. So many great talents are lost through stupidity and poor choices and it's sad to see so much talented wasted. Let's hope that his death will not go unheeded by several other actors who seem intent on wasting their own lives for the sake of a good time, or lack of a decent "ticker" as me old grandad would say!!!

Hi! I have just started my new hobby of autograph collecting! I hope you don't mind I will be using some of your addresses. The problem I have is that there are sooo many addresses listed for some celebrities, and who knows what one works. I have been researching addresses for awhile, and I have now resorted to searching for other collectors (like you) because they are likely to have the correct addresses. You have so many great autographs! I envy your success, and who knows, maybe I will be successful also. Thanks for listing the addresses!
