This little blog is designed to help and hopefully entertain autograph collectors and TV/Film lovers with my occasional insights into this great hobby. It is pretty laid back and readers are encouraged to have their say and to make suggestions as a forum to the pitfalls and joys of this fascinating hobby...
Hello everyone as winter approaches downunda...economically speaking as well as weather-wise!!!
It's been a busy time with completing some interviews and chasing others. I've posted quite a few new ones to my website:http://www.dpriol.com/THEARTICLESHOMEPAGE.htmlincluding a good chat with one of the best James Bond autograph collectors on the planet and the excellent rocker Bill Mumy of Lost in Space fame.
I have also been working on some new signings including the fabulous Noel Neill, Coleen Gray, Ann Robinson, Bill Mumy and also in the works Anne Francis. All lovely ladies and hopefully also a phone interview with Coleen about her great career. I have also done a terrific signing with the beautiful actress Tanja Reichert, and with two of my contacts picked up signings with Joan Collins and top Playboy model, Anna Marie Goddard. I also hope to have more good news soon, but below are a few addresses that may be of use to autograph collectors everywhere, and don't forget to add an interesting but short letter and SSAE with your requests.

As Easter approaches I realised it's been a while since I updated my blog. Times have been busy and so I just wanted to update people with some news and some more addresses. At the moment I am currently in the process of obtaining private signings with several great folk. These include Bill Mumy, Susan Olsen, Chanel Ryan, Bernie Dexter, Tony Todd, Amber Smith, Emmanuelle Vaugier and Tanja Reichert. One of my in person dealers on the East Coast has also obtained some terrific Playboy babes for me, but quite a few of these have already sold on the UACC Auction Website this week.
I am also working on a whole lot of new interviews including Tony Todd and Chanel Ryan and will be putting more of my interviews on my website in the coming months. I also hope to do something fun with Raven de la Croix too. Tony will be my 100th Actor/model interview and I could not think of a nicer bloke to commemorate the occasion. He's the man, he's the Candyman!!!
I also took the plunge and became a dealer member of the IADA. The club seems to have taken on new energy and will soon be having a major relaunch, which in the long run can only help collectors worldwide. There are some of the most reliable and popular dealers involved in the dealer programme and if collectors get behind the membership it will make a nice companion club to the UACC. Hopefully it will provide a very strong exemplar catalogue and perhaps one day also add its own auction site so people can avoid the many pirates on eBay.
While there are some brilliant dealers on eBay who do a fantastic job, they are often overwhelmed by the hoards of unsavoury would-be dealers and forgers which eBay heavily profits from. With so much money available to eBay these unscrupulous sods will always be around to plague the poor collector. All we can really do is try and educate and assist unwary collectors against being duped. Most large collectors know the game and can avoid the pitfalls, but it is the person who buys a gift, is just getting started collecting or just buys the odd item who is most likely to be ripped off and we need to provide a secure place for these people so they get what they paid for and are protected by dealers who will stand by their product. All dealers will make mistakes, but the good dealers will provide a guarantee, which means the collector does not end up out of pocket.
I would think that eBay would very conservatively make at least $20-40 million plus per annum from their listing and selling fees on their website. And I mean fees accumulated just from the fakes and forgeries, secretarials and autopens. If only the good dealers were left then I think that 70% of all listed autographs would disappear overnight. And can someone explain to me why eBay allows preprints to be sold in the mainstream autograph area instead of its own category. There is no way these should be sold with the originals and just make a time-wasting distraction for collectors. It's just another one of the shonky decisions offered by eBay in the name of making a buck....
If I was a collector on eBay, I would hunt down the few reliable dealers they can find or the actors/models etc who sell their own stuff there and then avoid the rest. And this goes for most other generic auction websites too. Many others are even worse....
IT WAS SO SAD TO HEAR THAT BOB MAY PASSED FROM HEART FAILURE ON THE WEEKEND.
Bob was aged 69 and left a wife, Judy and two children. He was well known at signing shows and LIS conventions and was always one to look after his fans and was a great favourite with TV audiences downunda for the last three generations who have watched and enjoyed Lost in Space. Bob started out in Vaudeville as a child and worked on a number of Jerry Lewis films and counted Jerry as a friend. It was even worse knowing that Judy and Bob lost most of their prized possessions in the Sylmar bushfires and now Judy has faced this doubly hard loss. One can only hope for good things for Judy and her children for the coming year. I have listed some signed 10x8 photos on eBay and the UACC Auctions to raise a little extra money for the family, and anyone wishing to help can still donate via PayPal to robot@robot-b9.com Which is part of Bob's official website run by Mark Schwandt...
New signings with June Wilkinson and Pamela Green have arrived and Bernie Dexter is on the way. The photo of Pamela was recovered from a 1949 photo that Pamela posed for as a teenager and was shown at a London Gallery in 1949. She is playing Pandora!!! Which she does very well. A third signing with Burt Ward is also in the offing, but seems always to be arriving without actually arriving!!! I am almost at the stage of trying to test the PayPal insurance process it has taken so long. Lots of other great items have hit my desk from all over the place and should have some new James Bond signings arriving soon. Plus my good friend Louise Pajo stopped by to sign some photos from UFO. It is a montage I made up from her two appearances on the 1970s cult classic from the UK.
Best wishes to everyone....

Despite any global meltdowns, I hope everyone has a happy and prosperous year and find lots of treasures for your collections in your travels...
I received a great new signing with Sid Haig with the help of his lovely partner Suzy and just putting the final touches to our interview. And as you will see above I also got a great signing with the very seductive Claudia Christian, who signed 100 photos for me.
The next week should also see the arrival of new signings with June Wilkinson, Bernie Dexter and Pamela Green. All great ladies... Also lots of cool stuff from various Autographica and Collectormania shows have hit my desk, some new James Bond stuff as well as some terrific in person signings from some of my American contacts...
Hopefully the addresses below will bring you some success. You should also check out Stephanie Zimbalist's website to see some great photos of Efrem Zimbalist Jr celebrating his 90th Birthday. You can also sign her guest book to send congratulations to Mr Efrem too...
Just stopping in to wish everyone a fantastic Christmas and to ask everyone to drive carefully and give generously to friends, family and the needy this year with so much of the world falling on hard times.
It is also sad to lose the lovely Beverly Garland this weekend
And also so sad knowing that the wonderful and tragic Bettie Page is now brain dead. My best wishes go to her brother Jack Page and all her family and friends.
I am currently working with Tony Todd on an interview and possible signing. What a fantastic gentleman and what a great sense of humour and look out for him in the Indie production of Night at the Bijou as well as season 7 of "24" and I can't wait to read his responses to my questions...
Bob May lost nearly everything except for two small robots and very little else. However, Bob has sent out many thanks to all his friends and fans who have been so supportive. And there is a new PayPal address for any donations:
My new signing with the gorgeous June Wilkinson should be here before Christmas. A very stylish lady and still one of the great beauties...
A friend of mine Jeff Mendelsohn caught up with the fabulous Noel Neill who had just celebrated her 88th birthday. He has allowed me to show his phone photo (c) of Miss Noel and she is looking great. And if you want to enjoy her career you should grab her biography off the Net which is full of fantastic photos and memories of early Hollywood and is available signed by Noel and her Biographer and good mate, Larry Ward....

G'day to everyone, This is a quick update and firstly anyone who is fan of Lost in Space that 60s classic about the Space Family Robinson, may not know that Bob May who played the robot, "Danger, Danger Will Robinson," opposite Jonathan Harris, "you bumbling ninny," lost his home during the recent fires in Sylmar. Bob May is a grand fellow and if anyone would like to help they can PayPal him directly at robot@robot-b9.com
An interesting point for many autograph collectors who may not realise this, but when you're comparing Adam West signatures on Batman photos you should know that Adam signs his name with two different styles of A for Adam. There is a common style and when he sits down and does large signings especially for dealers that he changes to the more rounded style. Insiders tell me he does this more as a gimmick than any other reason and he also often changes pen colours from show to show. Of course, there are still thousands of fakes out there so your best bet is to buy one from his website or from one of the many shows he attends. After a long period of time where the American or Australian Post Offices lost my signing with Burt Ward, Mr Ward was totally awesome and replaced the order for me, which arrived this week. What a great guy and I immediately ordered another signing from Mr Ward. Mind you it is getting very painful due to the Aussie dollar dropping 30% in about 6 weeks!!! OUCH is all I can say...
In the coming month I hope to have a new signing with the lovely Pamela Green, star of Peeping Tom and often referred to as England's Bettie Page. I will have 9 new images of Pamela that she sent me. These have been lightly restored and resized to 10x8 and includes a very rare early shot from about 1949-50. Below are some new addresses that you may find useful to building your collections... Hopefully I will have another update before Christmas with hopefully some interesting new signings including signings from a recent gathering of Bond babes...
G'day CollectorsRecent signings include the lovely Barbara Luna, Donna Loren, Ingrid Pitt and Bob May. One of my best suppliers in the USA has also scored me various terrifically signed photos from Kate Mulgrew (Star Trek) Laura Vandervoort (Smallville Hottie) and Linda Blair (The Exorcist) Barbara Luna has signed a variety of photos from various films, Star Trek and Buck Rogers. Donna Loren has signed a collection of 11x8 prints from Batman while Ingrid Pitt has signed about 50 Region 4 DVDs for her classic 1972 film Countess Dracula. Bob May has signed 50 photos from his role as the Robot in Lost in Space. I am still awaiting a large signing from Burt Ward of Batman fame. I will also hopefully have another signing with Tina Louise arriving shortly as well as over seventy new signed photos from recent UK Collectormania/Autographica shows available.
