Is it Christmas already...

Ah well, it's that time of year again when the stores get richer, the parents get poorer and the only signatures you can find are on credit cards. I don't even let me get started on that %#$@ Scrooge who lives at Kirribilli and looks like a sawn off cross between Santa and Satan (the world's finest anagram) Maybe he can throw a few children overboard this Christmas to balance the books...

Now I have vented my spleen let me get into the right spirit by wishing everyone a wonderful Christmas...to all the great people I have chatted to across the globe I wish you are very happy and safe festive season...to my friends and family I hope Santa and his elves spoil you rotten and don't let you over indulge in the egg nog or puddin'.

My good friend Ash from Melbourne will soon be opening his brand new website, which will be a terrific boost as he will also be looking at all aspects of autograph collecting and will be a fount of info and entertaining reading. I also take this opportunity to gently push him towards finishing his study of Clint Eastwood, Eli Wallach and Lee van Cleef autographs so I can get them up on my site. It won't be long before Ash is "the" authority on these guys...and collectors will definitely benefit from checking his site out. I'll post the address here and on my site when Ash has the site up and running.

After some months I have gotten some nice signed photos in from Jane Seymour. She is a marvellous lady and terrific actress and donates much of her signings to charity. People like Brigitte Bardot, Anne Francis and Adrienne Wilkinson use signings as a charity tool, which is great. I am more than happy to publicize other people who do this here too. Other recent signings include Kitten Natividad (great lady) Tamie Sheffield (va va voom) Carrie Anne Fleming (sweet Canadian) Bernie Dexter (The Siren of San Diego) and Blaze Starr (legend). The latter ones are still in the mail so to speak and hopefully arrive before Christmas. After 6 months I have given up on Brande Roderick, who did a signing only to have her agent ship to the wrong person. Since then she and her agent have failed to replace my order, which has seen several hundred dollars go down the drain. This ranks up there with the James Bond actress who promised me glossy signed photos and sent me laser prints that her mother would not have recognized her in. I am certainly glad I only pursue autographs as a hobby because I think I'd soon go broke trying to do it for a living. When you take out the fakes and forgeries, damaged items, items never delivered, crappy quality items and all the other costs involved it feels nice just to break even and enjoy the collecting side of the hobby. For me it is the friends I get to make, the interviews (with some wonderful people) and some of the terrific items that cross the ocean which makes up for all the financial crap. I suppose the good thing is that if the Tax Man comes a calling then I am likely to find he owes me money (yeah right!!!)

Hopefully during 2006 we will get more people to this site to add their thoughts and stories... Despite all else I want people sharing their stories rather than just listening to me plug on about this and that. Stories from old Hollywood, conventions, in person signings, war stories, fakes and forgeries.... send them in and if they ain't (too) libellous or are fun and entertaining or educational then I will post them here. I will also publish interviews with actors etc or studies on my website for those interested in doing that...

So Merry Christmas and have a great 2006
